Job Overview

Mercy Corps is seeking a Medical Imaging Technician (MIT) to provide X-ray screening services through mobile screening camps in Badin, Sindh. The selected candidate will support TB case-finding activities by conducting quality X-ray screenings, maintaining patient records, coordinating with field teams, operating X-ray equipment, and ensuring radiation and patient safety standards.

The role involves working 6 days a week and travelling between districts as part of mobile screening activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform X-ray screening services for beneficiaries at mobile screening camps.
  • Explain the X-ray procedure and obtain verbal consent from patients.
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for X-ray procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient demographics and MIT registers.
  • Ensure only the patient is present inside the X-ray room during the procedure; one attendant may accompany a female patient.
  • Ensure patients remove metal objects and jewelry before screening.
  • Provide quality X-ray services while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
  • Guide patients with abnormal findings for further medical assessment.
  • Maintain X-ray films and related stock.
  • Compile daily X-ray data and submit reports to the supervisor.
  • Coordinate with field teams to ensure screening camps follow the planned schedule.
  • Ensure sputum samples are collected from patients with abnormal X-ray results.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of X-ray equipment.
  • Maintain equipment maintenance and repair logs.
  • Prepare monthly statistics for screened, presumptive, and positive TB cases.
  • Operate X-ray machines, printers, and CAD4TB software after required training.
  • Wear the required dosimeter during chest screening camps according to radiation-safety requirements.
  • Submit van staff dosimeters quarterly for radiation assessment.
  • Supervise the mobile van and oversee its activities.
  • Follow appropriate PPE and workplace safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma / F.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology from a recognized institute with 3 years of post-diploma experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) with 1 year of post-degree experience.
  • Experience working with TB screening mobile vans will be an added advantage.
  • Fluency in English, Urdu, and local languages is preferred.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Coordinator – ACF

Works Closely With: Program Officers ACF, Regional Coordinator, Medical Laboratory Technician, and District Field Supervisor.
