Mercy Corps is seeking a qualified Medical Lab Technician to support tuberculosis (TB) screening activities through mobile screening camps. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting Gene Xpert testing, handling sputum samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with national TB screening guidelines and biosafety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Gene Xpert testing services at mobile TB screening camps.
• Collect and process sputum samples from presumptive TB patients.
• Guide patients on proper sputum sample collection procedures.
• Prepare samples and perform Gene Xpert testing according to SOPs.
• Maintain appropriate storage temperatures for samples and cartridges.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of Gene Xpert equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and report faults or malfunctions promptly.
• Ensure timely calibration and proper care of laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate with field teams regarding test results and patient registration.
• Maintain statistical records of screened, presumptive, and confirmed TB cases.
• Submit regular reports to the Program Officer.
• Attend relevant technical trainings and perform additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Diploma / F.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institute with 3 years of post-diploma experience, OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with 1 year of relevant post-degree experience.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in TB laboratories.
• Knowledge of biosafety practices and laboratory procedures.
• Fluency in English, Urdu, and local languages.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory processes.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Initiative, teamwork, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
